Today, together with room's 9 and 14, we watched a performance by Sarah Lewis. Sarah got us to guess whether the instrument she was playing was woodwind, percussion or string. At the end some of us got to perform 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'.

Suter Art Gallery - Mille-Fleurs

Last week we went to the Suter Art Gallery to view an exhibition of a 'THOUSAND FLOWERS'. At the exhibition we looked at different types of botanical arts and made flowers to take back to class with us. You can view all the flowers in Room 13........come on in and take a look :-)

Later that week in class, we wrote explanations about how we made our flowers.
This explanation was written by Charlotte:

How I made my flower. I went to the Suter. The Suter is a place in town where lots of art is placed. I went there with my class. We all made flowers. Do you know how to make a flower? Well this is how I made mine. First I got a purple and green pipe-cleaner and stuck on a bit of green plastic on the bottom. Second I stapled a silver bit of cardboard and blue paper together. Third I sellotaped the green plastic on more securely. Fourth I put a bow on the silver paper. Fifth I stuck the pipe-cleaner on to some green cardboard. Sixth I was done!

Holiday writing

On Monday we wrote about what we got up to during the holidays. This is one of the best stories and it was written by Fin!

When I went to Golden Bay I saw Dillon and we got so muddy. It was BRILLIANT. We even went kayaking in our own kayak. It was SUPER COOL. We hopped in the cold water and I paddled into the mud. It was SUPER at Golden Bay!

Animal Reports

In Room 13 we have been studying about different animals. Today we wrote a report about the animals we have been studying. These are some of the reports Room 13 wrote.

Flies
Flies are insects. You find them anywhere. You mostly find them in the air. They have big eyes and wings. They are small and have a head. They can fly, crawl and tickle. Flies can be irritating and they can tickle you when they land on you. Sometimes I ask Mum if I can wack their guts out of them. Usually I don't do it but sometimes I do. I do not like flies because they distract me when I am working.

Ali

Snakes
Snakes are reptiles. They have tails, tummies, and heads. You find them in the wild. They can slither, bite and curl up. They are an animal with a long body and no legs. I think snakes are scary.

Charlotte

Alligators

Alligators are a type of reptile. They snap and snip all over the place. They are very dangerous. They have very sharp teeth. You find them in America. They bite and they kill. I think they are bad because they kill people.

Pohutukawa Swimming Carnival

Swimming Is Fun

Last Thursday my class and room 14 and 9, we all did the starfish and races. My cousin won two races and Max was third in the underwater race. I took part in the kickboard race and Fin won the kickboard race. There was a kickboard length race too. I was fun, in fact it was great!

Charlie

The Swimming Race

Last Thursday we went to the swimming carnival. First we did a front starfish. It was fun and cool. The second race was the piggyback race. My buddy was Charlie. I had to bring two towels and goggles and sunscreen and a hat. I loved it! My favourite race was the under water race.

Suter Art Gallery - Wreck of the Delaware

On Wednesday we walked to the Suter Art Gallery. We went to see the Art exhibition from Sally Burton Called Wreck of the Delaware. Esther told us the story about how the wreck happened and we watched a movie. We learnt a lot about how to shade a picture.
Have a look what we did at the gallery!

We used pastel crayons to draw different faces and to work on our shading techniques.

Thanks once again to the parents who came along and helped us!

Soon after birth she was diagnosed with a very rare condition of the bowel known as total intestinal aganglionosis or total Hirschsprung’s disease. There is no cure and it means she will never be able to digest food. [More info: Click Here]
